Obituary For Venkata Subba Reddy Puduri

Venkata Subba Reddy Puduri, nicknamed "Subba," passed away at home in Raleigh, North Carolina, on February 26, 2024. He was accompanied in his last moments by his wife, Suseela and son, Vivek.

Born in Bhimunipadu village, Kurnool district, in Andhra Pradesh state, India; Subba spent much of his life in India before immigrating to the United States in 2001. Subba was a loving husband, father, brother, uncle, and friend who will be deeply missed but remembered for his amicable nature, integrity, and caring personality.

Growing up in a family of farmers, Subba was known by all to overcome great hardship to graduate in 1983 from Sri Venkateswara University, and again for his Master's in 1986 from Sri Krishnadevaraya University and then again for his PhD in 1994 from Sri Krishnadevaraya University. Held in high regard in his academic circles, Subba till his passing maintained contact with his mentors, students and professors.

To no one's surprise, after he completed his PhD, he never referred to himself as Dr. Puduri. Always, "call me Subba". Such was his humble, kind, and selfless nature. Subba soon after married his wife, Suseela, was blessed with a son, Vivek, and then immigrated to the US in 2001, initially settling in New Jersey and then moving to North Carolina in 2023. Subba's life in the states was guided by a deep sense of duty to his family and desire to lay the foundation for what is now his legacy. Through his time working as a professor and researcher at Rutgers University Dept of Agriculture, and later on at various companies, Subba had a profound impact on everyone in his network.

Subba was a hard worker; his colleagues were inspired by his work ethic and he took pride in doing a good job and solving problems. Above all else, Subba was grateful for the opportunity to come to
America and build a life here.

Such was his impact over the span of his life, that his name will be remembered in the village he first called home, among family who looked to him for guidance and wisdom, among friends he shared life with, in the institutions he studied at, and by all his colleagues. Subba was a source of immense experience and bountiful wisdom. Subba had the ability to find much needed levity regardless of the seriousness of the situation. It was a quality that brought comfort to those around him. Subba would frequently tell his son Vivek of his wish to retire and return to the simple life. He envisioned watching the sun rise every morning on his house or on his farm, a sort of divine confirmation that he did all he could to build and leave behind a legacy to pass on. He was content knowing those wishes were fulfilled and that his legacy and memory would endure for eternity.

Venkata Subba Reddy Puduri is predeceased by his parents, Narasimha Reddy Puduri and Malamma (Panyam) Puduri and his brother, Vijaya Bhaskar Reddy Puduru. He is survived by his wife, Suseela Kanamathareddy; his son, Vivek Reddy Puduri; his brother and brother's spouse, Kota Reddy Puduri and Swarna Latha Puduri; late brother's spouse, Lakshmi Devi Puduru; his nieces and nephews, Triveni Puduri, Narendra "Sai" Puduri, Pavan Kumar Reddy Puduru, his grandnieces and grandnephews, Deepak Reddy Puduru, and Yuktha Reddy Naravula, and many more across his extended family and friends.

Prof. NARAYANA NETTEM, SRI KRISHNADEVARAYA UNIVERSITY, ANANTAPUR, INDIA Dr. Subba Reddy, although technically a researcher worked with me for his Doctoral Degree in Economics under my supervision in the Department of Economics, Sri Krishnadevaraya University in India, I never treated him like a student but he remained like my brother sharing with me the good and the bad in academics for about three decades. Even when I left India in 1998 and took up a teaching assignment in the University of Botswana, Botswana (Southern African country), we continued the same academic and personal relationship and never missed love and affection. Me and my wife Dr. Sarala Devi and my daughters Prashanthi Nettem (Chicago) and Pradeepthi Nettem ( San Jose) can never forget the delightful and pleasant days we spent in the campus of Sri Krishnadevaraya Universty, India. We are very sad and deeply moved after knowing the sudden demise of Dr. Puduri Venkata Subba Reddy, a lovable, dearer, a close associate and a finest gentleman. We couldn't imagine his death at an early age, leaving behind by his loved mentors, friends and family members. We pray our beloved God to bless his soul to rest at the feet of Lord Venkateswara and give abundant courage and strengh to his wife Dr. Susheela and his son Mr. Vivek. With deep love and affection... Prof. Narayana Nettem Dr. Sarala Devi Prashanthi Nettem Pradeepthi Nettem 🌷🌷🌷🌷🌷🌷
