Success Evangeline Dabbs
It is with immeasurable sorrow that we announce the passing of our beloved daughter, Success, who died on July 7, 2026.
Born in Lagos, Nigeria, Success' journey to our family was one of hope, patience, and love. After a three-year wait, the day we finally welcomed her home in May was the beginning of a dream come true. Though our time together was far too short, every moment with her was a precious gift that will remain in our hearts forever.
The first thing everyone noticed about Success was her bright, radiant smile. She brought laughter and energy wherever she went, and her curiosity, bright spirit, and joyful heart touched everyone who had the privilege of knowing her. She was so generous with all she had, and absolutely loved babies and small children. Ever the willing helper, Success was always ready to assist younger ones with their projects and work.
Success loved dogs, building with Lego, swimming, dancing, K-pop Demon Hunters, and anything purple. Dancing was one of her passions, and in almost every video we have of her, she is dancing. She even famously beat her brother in a dance contest, which has fueled sibling rivalry to this day. We know she is dancing right now in full heavenly glory.
Success leaves behind two families whose lives were forever changed by her love. While we grieve the future we dreamed of together, we are profoundly grateful that she became our daughter and that we were blessed to know her, love her, and call her our own.
Though her life on earth was far too brief, Success' name will forever remind us of the extraordinary gift she was. She will always be our daughter, forever loved, forever cherished, and forever missed.
Success is survived by her parents, Luke & Melanie Dabbs; her brother, Sidikie Dabbs; grandparents, Michael & Tina Parman, Ken & Linda Dabbs, Daryl & Annie Lubinsky, and Bisola Alatishe. She also leaves behind many loving aunts and uncles, Precious & Adun Mogoli, Brenda Mack, Kelly & Hunter Valentine, DJ Parman, Nikolette Saylor, and Jackson Killdeer. She will be missed by her cousins, Salem, Zion, Aviya, Jedidiah, Viktor, Kathryn, Brandon, and Gianna. She was preceded in death by her first mom, and we rejoice that she is in her loving arms again.
A viewing for close family and friends will be held at 7:00 PM on July 17 at Renaissance Funeral Home, 7615 Six Forks Road, Raleigh, NC 27615.
A celebration of life will be held July 25, 2026, 10:00 AM at Durham Museum of Life & Science at 433 W. Murray Avenue, Durham, NC 27704. Guests are encouraged to wear purple–Success’ favorite color.
Instead of flowers, the family requests that donations of dog treats, toys, and supplies be brought to her services so they can make a large donation in her honor to the local animal shelter. Success loved dogs more than anything and enjoyed giving them copious amounts of treats. If you are not able to attend her service, we would love for you to donate to your local animal shelter or rescue in her name.
As a family, we want to say thank you so much to everyone for your incredible love and support during this devastating time. We want to encourage you to really live today in fullness and joy.
Condolences
