Robinson “Robbie” Atlee Coats, Jr., 71, of Raleigh, passed away peacefully on Saturday, October 31, 2026.

Robbie was born February 21, 1955, in Harnett County, NC, to the late Robinson Atlee Coats and Martha Jane Horton Coats. Robbie spent most of his adult life in Raleigh. A loyal and valued employee at Flowserve for over fifty years, Robbie was an everyday example of discipline, hard work and dedication. When not working, which was not often, Robbie enjoyed fishing and times spent with the family, especially trips to Carolina Beach. One of his most endearing traits was his willingness to help others. Whether driving his daughter through a snowstorm or replacing any car part necessary, his generosity and compassion was only a phone call away. A selfless, Godly man, a caring brother, a loving husband, and an irreplaceable man who will forever be affectionately known as “Dad” and “Papa,” Robbie’s legacy will be rooted in the hearts of those who knew him and loved him.

A celebration of Robbie’s life will be held on Friday, November 13th, 2026, at 11am, at Renaissance Funeral Home, 7615 Six Forks Rd, Raleigh, NC 27615. The family will receive family and friends one hour prior to the service.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to The Salvation Army, Food Bank of Central & Eastern NC and Samaritan’s Purse.
