Nancy Naragon Grigsby
Nancy Naragon Grigsby, 91, of Raleigh, passed away on Tuesday, October 27, 2026.
Nancy and her twin brother Richard were born on March 16, 1935, in Youngstown, Ohio to the late Willard Allison Naragon and Lucille Kathryn Stewart Naragon.
Nancy loved the Tar Heels, the Carolina Hurricanes, apple pie and ice cream – but especially loved her children and grandchildren. She enjoyed traveling, mostly to visit grandchildren in South Carolina, Colorado, and Texas. Her only international trip was to Kenya in 2015, at the age of 80.
She was a life-long Lutheran and a member of Grace Lutheran Church since July 1966. She served as church secretary for a short period of time, printing Sunday worship bulletins on a mimeograph machine. Nancy loved her Grace Lutheran family and shared her time and talents.
Nancy was the epitome of selfless love. She spent countless hours and drove many miles taking Alice, David, and Susan to sports practices, music lessons, Girl Scout meetings, and 7 am marching band practices. After retiring from NC State in 2000, she provided day care for two grandchildren; and hosted grandchildren multiple times for “sleepovers.” She volunteered at North Raleigh Ministries, first in the thrift store, then in the food pantry.
In addition to her parents, Nancy was preceded in death by her husband, Carroll Mack Grigsby; her sister-in-law Judy Naragon, her brother Richard Naragon, and sister-in-law Marilyn Geno.
Nancy is survived by daughters Alice Grigsby (and sweetheart Ken) and Susan Mynatt; son David Grigsby; son-in-law David Mynatt; and daughter-in-law Judy Grigsby; grandchildren Andrew, Will, Christine, Bill (and wife Courtney), Katie, Claire, and Ginny; and great-grandchildren Josie and Luke.
Nancy’s family is grateful for the staff at Cadence North Raleigh and Amedisys Home Health Care for providing care and support the last two years.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday November 14 at 2 pm at Grace Lutheran Church, 5010 Six Forks Rd, Raleigh, NC 27609, with inurnment in the church columbarium immediately following.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Grace Lutheran Church or North Raleigh Ministries.
