Nancy J. Thompson

On May 22, 2023, Nancy died peacefully with her daughter Melanie and son-in-law Neal by her side.

Nancy was born December 04, 1932 in Chicago, IL, daughter of the late Frank E. Williamson and Barbara L. Bowlin. Her family moved to Miami, FL in 1935 where she graduated from Miami Senior High School.

Nancy married her first husband, the late Robert Moore Boyd of Corinth, MS, and moved to Tampa, FL where she raised two daughters and enjoyed many happy times boating and exploring the sights. She was a devoted mother, always volunteering her amazing energy to help with school carnivals, talent shows and other events.

Nancy married her second husband in 1968, the late Robert Joseph Thompson of Philadelphia, PA, and they moved to Lansdale, PA. She began her long and successful career with Prudential Insurance Company, retiring in December 14, 1995. She enjoyed travelling around the country, and helping people and their families through difficult times.

After retiring, Nancy moved to Raleigh, NC to live close to her daughter and family. She was an adventurer, travelling extensively around the world and visiting all continents! Her family and friends loved hearing her many tales of her travels including camping in the Gobi Desert, catching piranha in the Amazon River, and hanging out with penguins in Antarctica.

Nancy was an accomplished bridge player, an avid reader of spy and historical novels, and loved gardening and watching sports, especially football. Everyone knew her favorite team was the Philadelphia Eagles!

She will be forever cherished by her daughters Melanie (Neal Robert II) Clark, and Sarah (Donald) Ross. She is Nana to her grandchildren Jason (Jennifer) Kelly, Megan Smith, and Rebecca Ross; to her 5 great-grandchildren Anna, Christian, Haley, Cyrus, and Madison. She had five siblings, Barbara Mendoza (who preceded her in death), Sally Williamson, Mary Jo Carney, Donald Scott and Anne Petri.

Nancy will be remembered for her wit, her compassion, and her love of life. She will be cremated at Renaissance Funeral Home and Crematory.
