Mary Ann Haugen, 87, of Raleigh, NC died on March 10, 2022 at Rex Hospital Raleigh, after struggling for three months of multiple health issues.

She was born in Grand Forks, ND, on December 17, 1934, daughter of the late John and Mary (nee Petrowski) Tibiatowski and was known as Lou or Lulu by many. Mary was educated in Grand Forks, ND and attended Central High School.

Mary married Orlen Haugen on September 13, 1968. They would have celebrated their 54th anniversary this year. Mary and Orlen had a loving and respectful marriage; he was the love of her life.

Mary was the founder and owner of Lou‘s Daycare which was in operation for 22 years in Grand Forks, ND. She and Orlen were sponsors of a child through Compassion International for many years.

They moved to San Diego in 1991 where they lived until they relocated to Raleigh in 2008.

They enjoyed spending time with family, friends, dancing and traveling. She had a great passion for gardening — with beautiful flowers and an arbor in her yard. She loved dancing with her husband and the fact that he would never dance with anyone else at the dance club they attended; although he will succumb to requests from his daughters and granddaughters. She was always decorating her home. She loved fashion and always look great! She enjoyed nature, the mountains and beach. She doted on the birds in her yard and her doggies.

Mary was preceded in death by her daughter, Diane; two grandchildren; one great-grandchild; and eight siblings. Her life will be forever cherished in the love of her husband, Orlen, and her children, Carl (Cheryl) Graff of San Diego, CA; Linda (Kurt) Anderson of Raleigh, NC; Kerry Graff of Minneapolis, MN; Lori (James) Abbey of Hephzibah, GA; Kristi (Daniel) Baker of Raleigh, NC; and Sherri (Kevin) Gomez of Corning, NY; her twelve grandchildren; six great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.

A Memorial Service will be held Wednesday, March 16, 2022 at 2:00 PM at Renaissance Funeral Home, 7615 Six Forks Rd., Raleigh, NC 27615.
