It is with great sadness that we announce the peaceful passing of our dear mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and luminary of our family, Mrs. Janak Dulari Madan, on July 29, 2022. Janak Dulari Madan, born Janak Dulari Minocha, was born on November 23, 1924 in Shahpur, Sargodha (present-day Pakistan) to Mr. Gopi Chand Minocha and Mrs. Ram Bai Bajaj. She married Mr. Anand Swarup Madan in 1939, and then relocated to New Delhi, India, where she resided until 1982 when she moved to the United States to be with her children. She became a US citizen in 2000 and lived in several states, providing formative support and endless care for her children and grandchildren. She is predeceased by her loving husband Mr. Madan and one of her daughters, Savita. She is survived by her children Rajesh, Sudhir, Sunil, Veena, Suneeta, Priya and Sanjeev; 12 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; and numerous additional family members touched by her love. Although she resided in the Triangle of North Carolina for the last more than 25 years, her generosity and unwavering devotion to her family were felt by loved ones across the globe. She was a homemaker and lived a life devoted to that role in its essence. Preceded in passing at an early age by her loving husband, she bravely journeyed to America where she traveled to the homes of her children, all of whom were first-generation immigrants to the US building their lives here, to support them and their growing families in a new and evolving country. In doing so, she seamlessly provided binding ties to the culture and tenets of selfless and pious living that she lived by herself. She also provided to her family unparalleled ability to love, support and nurture the best qualities of each of her kin and community members. Her legacy is one of perseverance through adversity, faith in the benevolence of life and the living, a fervency for knowledge and learning, and steadfast commitment to acting altruistically. Until her passing and despite her health, she could be characteristically known for not letting a single visitor leave her side without a full stomach and many kisses on their hands. As the matriarch of the Madan family, her loss is felt deeply by all those who had the pleasure of knowing her. Her magnanimous spirit will continue to inspire and guide those whose lives she has touched. “Sabse achchi sabse pyari Mummy hamari Janak Dulari”
