Obituary For Jacob Scott Thomas

Mr. Jacob Scott Thomas, of Raleigh, NC, passed away unexpectedly on December 19, 2022 at the age of 28. Jacob was the son of Scott and Elizabeth Thomas, born on April 11, 1994 in Mecklenburg County and raised in Kernersville, NC. After being homeschooled by his mother Elizabeth, he attended Forsyth Tech and NC State University and graduated with a degree in Electrical Engineering from NCSU in 2017. Then went on to work in various manufacturing engineering roles throughout his career at International Paper, RE Mason, and Corning. He met his wife Laura Thomas during his time at NC State University, and they were united in matrimony in May of 2021, and shared a joyous and precious few years together.

Jacob was a devoted and loving husband, son, brother, and steadfast friend. Jacob’s fun-loving and vibrant energy could be felt by anyone he came in contact with. He had a special gift of lighting up every room he stepped into, and was a positive force on all those around him. Jacob enjoyed spending his time with family and friends, traveling, playing games, and bringing a smile to everyone’s face with his jovial nature. Jacob was an avid scuba diver, motorcyclist, snowboarder, chess player, Hurricanes fan, and loved to spend his time outdoors and on the lake with his partner, friends, and two dogs, Penny and Lennon. Jacob was also a talented craftsman, renovating and creating custom pieces for his home, and had a knack for fixing anything he put his hands on.

He will always be remembered with much love by his wife Laura Thomas; his parents Scott and Elizabeth Thomas; older sister Natalie Nicole Honeycutt, her husband Walt, and their two daughters, Katherine and Charlotte; younger sister Maria Thomas; older brother Chris Lawrence; siblings in love Joey Reynolds, and Madeleine Douthit; and many, many more family members and cherished friends.

A funeral liturgy service will be held for Jacob on Friday, December 23rd at 2:00 PM at Holy Cross Catholic Church in Kernersville, NC. There will be a short reception held after the service. Flowers and condolences can be sent to the church, or in lieu of either donations can be made to the National Park Service or other ocean conservation organizations in honor of Jacob’s love of the outdoors and scuba diving.
