Frances Kurzweil, 83 years old, of Raleigh, NC passed away peacefully Sunday, August 25, 2024 in Raleigh, North Carolina after a long illness. She was born August 6, 1941 in Binghamton NY, daughter of H James and Ann Pritz.

She met the love of her life, Joseph Kurzweil, at Broome Technical Community College in Binghamton, NY and together they were blessed with three children: Joseph (Caroline), Timothy (Laurie) and Julie (Philip) and six grandchildren.

Throughout their 51 years together, Fran and Joe lived in New York, Colorado, Connecticut and North Carolina, where she worked as both a medical assistant and a veterinary technician.

Her warm disposition, grateful spirit and giving nature meant she never met a stranger and was beloved by all.

Fran devoted her life to others and had a heart for animal welfare organizations. She traded bottle feeding baby bunnies and caring for litters of puppies for spoiling her grandchildren with chocolate chip cookies and mac-n-cheese. It was rare anyone left their house without some kind of sweet treat, m&ms or hand-made bracelet.

Her life and legacy will live on in her family. We all cherish the time we have had with her.

A celebration of her life will be at The Chapel at Springmoor Retirement Community, 1500 Sawmill Rd, Raleigh, NC on Tuesday September 3 at 3:00pm.
