Obituary For Elaine Gail Conger

Mrs. Elaine Gail Conger, 84 of Raleigh, peacefully passed away on April 2, 2023. She was born in Winslow, AZ on December 16, 1938, the daughter of the late Ted and Minnie Clark. She was a graduate of Wilson High School in Long Beach, CA. She was united in matrimony to Terry W. Conger in December of 1960, and this union was blessed with 3 children.

During her seventy years of teaching, she spent time with the University of Utah and the Christensen Academy. Ballet Oklahoma Dance School was home for several years and she taught with Ian Tau Dance School in Marin County for ten years.

"Miss Gail's" most recent teaching opportunities were as a substitute instructor at the Carolina Ballet School and ten years as faculty at Carolina Dance Center. Her ballet career started in California where she studied, danced, and taught with Valare Silvers Dance School in Long Beach. San Francisco Ballet was her primary student background and as an adult she did substitute teach at the school. She would identify herself as Christensen trained, having studied under all four Christensens.

Ms. Conger's life will be cherished in the lives of her loving husband, Terry Conger; children, Kelly Stevens of Marietta, GA, Karen Kelly of Antioch, CA, and Michael Conger of Raleigh; eleven grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

The Visitation will take place from 10:00 am to 11:00am and the Funeral Service will be held at 12:00 pm on April 12, 2023, at Raleigh First Ward Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, located at 5060 Six Forks Rd, Raleigh, NC 27609.

ELAINE was a physically beautiful woman, dancer, and human being. She was gifted and to dance along side of her at the Valerie Silver studio in Long Beach, California was pure joy. She lived her entire life with GRACE...She was MAGICAL! Sheila O'Brien

Miss Gail changed the trajectory of my dance training and molded me into the dancer I am today. I have always considered her one of my greatest mentors — she was like a grandmother to me. I will cherish the beautiful stories and the words of wisdom she shared with me forever. She was truly one of the most special, gracious souls I ever had the pleasure of encountering. I wish her family peace and comfort as they grieve and celebrate her life. With much love and gratitude, Lelia Saffold
