Obituary For Cedric Nigel Duren

Cedric Duren, 49, was taken too soon after he endured a hard-fought battle with cancer. He passed peacefully but never gave up the fight. He was a hard worker who was always good for a laugh as well as lending a hand when needed. He enjoyed spending time with his family, fishing, a good cocktail, and was known for his love of grilling where he would share his famous ribs with family & friends.

He leaves behind his wife, Cathy; sons, Dontè and Cedric; daughter, Aliyah; dog, Zoey; and three grandkids: Dontè, Jr., Makayla, and Amariah. He was the son of Kenneth and Shirley Duren and brother to David, Kenny, and Petra.

At this time there will not be a Memorial Service. In lieu of flowers, if desired our family has a GoFundMe to support medical bills, anything is appreciated but not expected.

I met Ced while employed at CMS and Piedmont Service Groups. He was one of the most knowledgeable people I ever met in the HVAC field. I worked alongside him on many projects. He was willing to teach you and answer any questions that you had pertaining to the job. He always had something going on joking and laughing. It was an honor to meet such a man. Definitely gone to soon but God is control and had bigger plans. My condolences to the family. Ced the Entertainer will be greatly missed.

I'm saddened to hear this news. It seems like it wasn't that long ago that I was talking with him in the hallways of Bldg 11 at RTI. He used to ride my vanpool to work a few years ago and he was always so sweet and has such a kind heart. My sincere condolences to his family. Michelle McCombs

Cedric was an amazing man. I'm thankful that work introduced us years ago. He was always someone I could count on and he knew he could count on me. He will be missed, greatly. To his wife and additional family I am sorry for your loss and you are in my prayers. And just like I was for Cedric, I am one call away. With love, Coy Jr Parker

I have to share one memory that we still to this day laugh about me and my mother did not know Cedric and his wife very well when we had our first holiday dinner at his house with his family what made it really special and memorable was how Cedric took so much pride in making the dinner especially using his new cooker when he was slicing the turkey he shoved a piece of turkey in my mom's mouth without warning as if he had done it before that right there shows you the kind heart he has and by him doing so made us feel so much at home we still laugh about it to this day because it just shows how he treats new people to his family as if they were part of it again you couldn't ask for a nicer Kinder gentler man we are sincerely going to miss him deeply God is with him now and I'm sure Cedric he's making him laugh and have a good time

When we first met Cedric we were surprised to see how young he and his wife was we were very impressed to meet such a kind warm-hearted person soon-to-be the father-in-law of our grand daughter / niece and as we became closer we realize he's family to us and we pass our sincere sympathies to the rest of family members because they lost a very valuable asset Cedric was the bomb you could not ask for a better person father companion all we can hope is that the rest of the family seeks comfort with all the memories and the pictures and all the good times that he gave to all who knew him God has him in his hands now we all just need to keep him in our thoughts and memories with love and sincere thoughts from Ione and Wayne black
