Obituary For Catherine Renee Duren

Catherine Duren, 52, is finally resting after a 6 year long battle with metastatic breast cancer. Cathy never conceded to her diagnosis and fought all the way to the end and will continue to be an inspiration and testament of strength to all whom knew her.

Cathy was known for her fun-loving nature to all of her friends and family. No matter the circumstances she was always up for board games (especially 5 dice), a trip to the beach or an amusement park, a rowdy football game in her cheesehead hat, or even to curl up on the couch for a Hallmark movie. Cathy never let her diagnosis slow her down and spent her last few years living her life to the fullest; including a couple of cruises to the Caribbean islands (where she went bobsledding in Jamaica & took a wild ride on (and off) a horse in the Bahamas), two trips to Las Vegas where she hit it big (on a slot – we still count it), and finally had a chance to see her Green Bay Packers beat her rival team (her husband’s Detroit Lions) live and in person.

Cathy now rejoins her husband, Ced, and brother, Ray, as well as two beloved pups, Zena and Zoey. She leaves behind her sons, Donte and Cedric; daughter, Aliyah; three grandkids: Donte Jr., Makayla, and Amariah; and puppy, Mojito. She also precedes her parents Marvin & Geraldine Richards, and siblings Buddy and Dottie.

At this time there will not be a memorial service, the family appreciates all condolences.

Sending my love and condolences to your family! Mrs. Duren had such a kind heart, loved her family, and knew how to have fun. I had the pleasure of spending a week with her and Aliyah for spring break and she made me feel like her own daughter. May she rest peacefully and her legacy continue to live on. - Diarra
