Parke has been a source of joy, laughter, forgiveness, and caring at times when my girls and I have needed it most. Once, I was in his home, and I had lost sight of my precious autistic daughter. I found her leaning against Parke's chest as he sat on the stairs. He had his arm around her slight shoulders, and his head bent over hers as she snuggled into his neck. It was a living portrait of love. My other daughter enjoyed having meals at his home, getting to know him, laughing with him, and baking him a homemade carrot cake for his birthday. She could tell he was impressed, which meant so much to her. I remember the way he threw his head back when he laughed and how well he could tell a truly funny story. He could get me so tickled I would start wheezing. I remember some of those stories, and I think I always will. So here's to Parke Rash, a man who loved fishing, horses, neighbors, cookouts, babies, his family, and the life he lived well! We miss you.

Parke, we are going miss you in the neighborhood. I remember your strong voice which I'm sure you used to great effect in church and the things you loved to do outdoors. God bless you.
