Vernon Baptist Church, Raleigh, NC, was a native of Bristol, TN, and was the son of Joe Booher and Mary Smith Booher. He was preceded in death by his wife Sylvia of 63 years, his brother Preston, and his parents. He is survived by his daughter Brenda Sams and husband Steve of Raleigh, NC, his daughter Sandy Martinkus and her husband Mike of Douglasville, GA, three grandchildren, and seven great-grandchildren. He was a WWII U.S. Army veteran serving in the Pacific and occupied Japan after the war. Services will be conducted at Mt. Vernon Baptist Church on Monday, 4/9, with visitation at 10:00 am, and the funeral service at 11:00 am, with Pastor Shannon Scott officiating. The committal service with Military Honors and internment will be at Glenwood Cemetery, Bristol, TN on Tuesday, 4/10, at 2:00 pm, with Pastor Mike Pope officiating. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial contributions be sent to Hospice of Wake County, 250 Hospice Circle, Raleigh, NC 27607
