William (Bill) Hosterman Sr., 82, of Pittsboro, NC, passed away on July 11, 2024. He was born in Youngstown, OH, on June 23, 1942, son of the late Kathryn and Raymond (Hype) Hosterman.

After high school, Bill served as military police in the National Guard. Following his time in the service, he began a career as a Liberty police officer for eight years. He then went on to work at Delphi (Packard Electric) in 1973 as a patrolman, where he became the Chief of Security and Fire Prevention (Ohio Operations). He finished out his career with General Motors as a foreman in the Lordstown Manufacturing Plant. Following his retirement from General Motors, he enjoyed a 10-year career at Lowe’s Home Improvement as the Manager of the Tools Department.

Bill married Joanne Lapinski on November 24, 1973. They celebrated their 50th Anniversary this past November. They enjoyed the blessings of four children: Joanna (spouse Dean Mularchik), William Jr. (spouse Nicole), Joseph, and Michael (spouse Diana). Bill loved spending time with his family, which included seven grandchildren (Emma, Sam, Jack, Joy, Josie, June, and Hope). He also thoroughly enjoyed the company of his pug puppy, Gil.

Bill was an avid fan of the Cleveland Indians (yes, the INDIANS) and Cleveland Browns (in good times and in bad). Throughout his life, he enjoyed playing golf and bowling with his dad, coaching his sons and daughter in baseball/softball, and many years supporting 4H equestrian activities. He also enjoyed attending all extracurricular activities for each of his grandchildren.

Bill is survived by his spouse Joanne and all four children and grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his parents, his sister Kathy Perry, and his beautiful baby granddaughter Hope (first born of Michael and Diana).

Bill lived for his family.

A memorial mass will be held at 11:00 am on August 10, 2024, at St. Charles Borromeo Church (7345 Westview Drive Boardman, Ohio 44512).
