Obituary For William Patrick McFadden
William Patrick McFadden passed away on July 30, 2015 and joined the mother of their ten children in eternity.
He was preceded in death by his first wife, Dorothy, his parents Mary & Patrick, stepfather Charles Carney, his brothers Paul , John, and Chuck McFadden, sister Sally McFadden, brother-in-law Frank Holodnak, sister-in-law Janet McFadden and stepbrothers Jack and Bob Carney.
William (Bill) was born in Pittsburgh PA on December 15,1931 to Mary and Patrick McFadden. Bill was a member of Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church, where he was cantor and sang in the choir. He was a lifelong member of the Barbershop Harmony Society (SPEBSQSA) and sang with 3 different choruses, starting in Kingston, NY. He retired from IBM in 1992 after more than 30 years with the company. He was involved in Boy Scouts, coached youth baseball, and helped build numerous houses with Habitat for Humanity. He and his late wife also volunteered with Urban Ministries of Wake County and coordinated The Gifts of the Magi at Our Lady of Lourdes. Bill continued serving Urban Ministries and helped deliver meals for Meals on Wheels with his wife, Cathy.
Bill is survived by his wife Cathryn and his loving children and their spouses: Mike & Kay McFadden, Kathy Stagias, Maureen Mieure, Caroline & Keith Hailey, Sarah & Dave Ely, Ginny & Jeff Warner, Kevin & Fran McFadden, Danny McFadden, Eileen Neumyer, and Christine & Mark Swan; his grandchildren: Stacy & Erik Lundblad, Tim & Kelly McFadden, Jessianne Pipkins, Adam & Dorothy Ely, Charles Pipkins, Stephen Ely, Jennifer Mieure, Simone & Anthony Baer, Jonathan Ely, Evan Warner, Alannah Flowers, Alyssa Flowers, Zachary Swan, Damien Neumyer, Christopher Neumyer , Xander Swan, and Eli Swan; 2 great-grandchildren Addison and Oren Ely; brother Patrick, Jr, & Betty McFadden, sister Mary Holodnak, and sister-in-law Rose McFadden. He also leaves behind several cousins and many nieces and nephews.
