Obituary For William Marshall Boyst Jr. III
William (Bill) Marshall Boyst Jr. (III), 86, passed away on October 29, 2015 at the Rosewood Health Center after a short illness. Bill was born in Charlotte, NC to William and Maude Boyst and is survived by his loving wife Frances, of 59 ½ years and daughter Beth Boyst (Philip) of Winters, California and son William IV (Bill) (Michelle) Boyst of Clayton, NC and three grandchildren who he was most proud of - Danielle, SSgt. William V(Billy), and Pvt. Michaela. He is also survived by his sister, Betty Lawrence and her children David, Kathy, and Carol. Bill will be remembered for his faithful devotion to God and family, steadfast commitment to charity, his 1966 yellow Mustang convertible and his unique style.
Bill received a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration from University of North Carolina in 1951. He was a veteran and served as an Army Medic in Germany with the 11th Field Hospital. He was a member of APICS, The American Production and Inventory Control Society, Inc. for more than 35 years and was a certified fellow (CFPIM). Bill proudly trained and educated supply chain professionals in the RTP area. He provided more than 14,000 hours classroom instruction for local businesses including IBM, Nortel Networks, GSK, Nomaco, Cummins, EMC2, The Body Shop, Revlon, Honeywell, Burt’s Bees and many more. His greatest pride was helping more than 1,100 people gain CPIM certification as a result of his dedication and service to APICS and the Triangle APICS chapter. Bill was a friend, mentor and educator and will be greatly missed by all who knew him!
Bill’s family gives heartfelt thanks to the Rosewood staff for the outstanding care that he received in his last days and to the Cypress of Raleigh staff for the many ways they have brightened his days while living there.
