William Jefferson Barefoot Junior of Raleigh, North Carolina passed away in peace on July 6, 2013 at the age of 79.

Bill was born September 4, 1933 in Battleboro, NC to William Jefferson and Mary Barefoot. He attended Benson High in Benson, NC and later attended the University of North Carolina in Chapel Hill. It was there where he met the love of his life Anna Cobb. They were married on November 12, 1955 and lived a loving and happy life.

Bill was a Coast Guard veteran and then a Government Civil Servant until his retirement in 1981. They moved to North Carolina in 1983 and Raleigh in 1985.

Bill was a loving father, grandfather, and friend to all he met. If you happened to be from around Benson he would want to know where from and who you were. He was extremely proud of his heritage and a true Tar Heel. The Raleigh neighbors will miss the talks in the yard; when you saw Bill and Anna together their love for each other was obvious and heartfelt.

Bill is survived by his loving wife Anna, son Will and his children Billy, Chris and his wife April, Sean and his wife Emily, son Jefferson and his wife Cecilia and daughters Carla and Monica. Sister-in-law Janet Newcomb and her husband Ray and sister-in-law Elizabeth Cobb.

His parents, William Jefferson and Mary Batts Barefoot of Benson, North Carolina, predeceased Bill. In-laws Joseph Manly Cobb and his wife Maria of Warrenton, VA also predeceased him.

Services will be held Friday July 12, 2013 at 11:00 AM at Renaissance Funeral Home. Internment will follow in Benson, North Carolina.
