Obituary For William D. Webb

William Durwood Webb, III of Raleigh, NC, died peacefully May 12, 2017.

He was born and raised in Edgecombe County, North Carolina. William was an active member of Soapstone United Methodist Church. He enjoyed offshore fishing, grilling, his dogs, his work, and he was an avid Tar Heels fan. William was preceded in death by his parents, William and Jean Hardee Webb.

William is survived by daughters Jennifer Joyner (Steve) of New Bern, NC, Laura Wilkins (Jonathan) of New Bern, NC, and Elizabeth Morgan Webb of Raleigh NC, sister Andrea Ellis (Terry) of Courtland, VA, three grandchildren, and many nieces and cousins.

The family will receive visitors at 1:00pm Thursday May 18, 2017, prior to a 2:00pm funeral service at Soapstone United Methodist Church, Raleigh, NC. A burial service will be held at Pinetops Baptist Church, 710 W Hamlet St, Pinetops NC 27864 , the same day at 4:30pm.

In lieu of flowers, please make donations to Soapstone United Methodist Church 12837 Norwood Rd., Raleigh, NC - 27613 in William’s memory.

The family would like to extend a special thank you to the doctors and nurses at the Duke University Cardiac Intensive Care Unit for the excellent care and support provided to William and his family during his stay.

I walked past William's house quite frequently with my dog. He used to sit on his side porch and wave to me as I went by...both ways. Occasionally, I would go up his driveway and exchange a few pleasantries. Because of his condition, I couldn't hear him very well so I would go closer...but that didn't always work because his dogs would bark louder than he could speak...so we just waved goodbye! I knew Woody when he lived in Cadillac, Mi. He was a great friend to my entire family. We shared a lot of time on the golf course and many hours with our Britney Spaniel dogs. My condolences to his family.
