Wilberforce “Wil” Raphael, 77, of Knightdale, North Carolina, passed away on April 18, 2019. He was born in Trinidad, West Indies, on October 24, 1941, son of the late Alice Moore & Bonifacio Raphael. Wil went to school at the Gasparillo Government school and went on to be an apprentice electrician at T&Tec before immigrating to the New York City area in the early 70’s. He started working for Amtrak in 1978 and retired in 2004. Wil was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Steve and Ray Raphael; and his sister, Greta of Gasparillo, Trinidad. He is survived by his spouse, Odette, and his children, Denise Raphael of New York, NY; Wayne Raphael of Oklahoma; Sharon (Timmathy) Cambridge of Dover, DE; Earlene Raphael of Virginia Beach, VA; Karen Raphael of Virginia Beach, VA; Phil (Trudy) Raphael of Virginia Beach, VA; Howard (Erica) Raphael of Raleigh, NC; grandchildren, Crystal, Latoi, Shanequa, A’Vier, Kaytlyne, Raychel, Stephen, Warren, Collene, Kris, Makeda, Dijjon, Sharika, Tarrick, Laa’iqa, Khadijah, Nicholas, Collin, Blake and 15 great-grandchildren He is also survived by siblings, Clotilda (John) Nathaniel, Lynton (Yolanda) Raphael, Geoffrey Raphael, Kenrick (Alma) Raphael, Hugh (Sharon) Raphael, Keith (Desre) Raphael, Esme Raphael, Rawle Raphael, nieces and nephews, cousins and friends. A memorial service will be held at 11:00 am on Friday, April 26, 2019 at Renaissance Funeral Home, 7615 Six Forks Road, Raleigh, NC 27615. Family and friends are welcome to a gathering immediately after the service. The family is especially thankful to PA Makeba Felton, Kerry Stanley, Troy Younger, all Chaplains, Duke Medical Center, Wake Med Hospital, Zebulon Fresenius Dialysis Center, Tracs, and Heartland Hospice Care. All of whom treated Wil well, helped to make him very comfortable, and provided additional years of life.
