Obituary For Walter Louis Derbyshire

Walter Louis Derbyshire of Raleigh, NC passed away on Thursday evening, April 7, 2011, at the age of 87. He is survived by his wife, Edythe Lillian Derbyshire, and sons, James Walter Derbyshire and George Louis Derbyshire. A chapel service will be held at 6 pm on Monday April 11, 2011 followed by a visitation with the family at Renaissance Funeral Home, 7615 Six Forks Road, Raleigh. Interment will take place at the Salisbury National Cemetery, Salisbury, NC on Tuesday April 12, 2011 at 11 am with Military Honors. I remember when Walt & Edith first moved to Raleigh. George was so concerned about them feeling welcome and part of the community, HA! They quickly learned where Triangle Town Center was, and went there every week or two. They usually stopped by Sears, where I was working at the time. Whether is was a visit of a few minutes or sharing lunch in the Food Court, it was ALWAYS a better day afterwards!

Walter was a wonderful teacher who left this world a better place because of his time with us. As a fellow sailer, I enjoyed sharing his sea stories of his travels.
