Obituary For Thomas Paul Feeny
Thomas Paul Feeny, beloved husband, father, and teacher, passed away on September 29, 2024, at the age of 87. A native of Massachusetts, he died in Raleigh, North Carolina, which he had called home since 1970.
He was a lover of languages and words; over the course of his career, he taught Spanish, Italian, and French. Before his passing, he was about to begin his fifty-fourth year as a professor at North Carolina State University. He was also a published poet with two collections to his name: "Night Into Day" (1993) and "Breathing in Technicolor" (2015).
On Sunday mornings, he could be found enjoying his record collection in the kitchen, singing off-key along to Frank Sinatra, Billie Holiday, and Sarah Vaughan. He was an avid fan of the Boston Red Sox and was finally rewarded with a World Series win in 2004 after sixty-seven years of waiting. He never met a dog he didn't like.
Tom is survived by Nelly, his wife of thirty-five years; his four children, Jed, Vera, Lorelei, and Jared; his sister, Julie and brother-in-law, Dick; and numerous extended family members and cherished friends.
