Obituary For Thomas E. Chance

Thomas Chance passed away on January 31, 2018. He had many titles in life and the ones he was most proud of were son, brother, friend, husband, father, grandfather, brother-in-law and father-in-law. He was always willing to offer a helping hand and encouraged all to be successful and fulfilled in whatever was pursued in life.

Tom was born in Dayton, Ohio on August 9, 1939 and often recollected with pride about his Dayton roots. In 1961, Tom married the love of his life, Mary Jane, and they celebrated many decades together while raising their three sons. While advancing his career, Tom and his family moved to Cincinnati and Virginia Beach. After Mary Jane passed away in 2010, Tom decided to act on a dream to live at Lake Gaston and moved to Littleton, NC to enjoy the beauty and the natural resources that the lake and its surroundings had to offer.

Tom is survived by his three sons: Mark, and his wife Lorraine; Matthew and Rhonda; Jeff, and his wife, Natasha; grandchildren: Mark, Kristin, Cole and Mattie; brother, Tim Chance and Linda.

Tom fought a valiant battle against cancer and even through all the pain maintained a positive outlook and was a continued source of strength to his family and many friends.

In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to Transitions Life Care, 250 Hospice Circle, Raleigh, NC 27607, or a cancer related charity of your choice.

My heart goes out to the entire family. I only met Mr. Chance a few times at Garrison's. He was a kind man , who had great stories and was so proud of Jeff and Natasha. I know he loved his fishing too. I'm happy he's now reunited with his beloved wife in heaven.
