Theresa Ann Alfano, 84, died peacefully on Thursday following a long struggle with cancer. Theresa was born on January 16, 1928 to the late Vincent and Theresa LaSorsa in New York, NY. She grew up in New York City and graduated from St. Francis Xavier High School in 1946. After working for several years in banking, she married Gabriel Alfano in February 1949. Soon afterwards they moved to East Meadow, NY, where she raised her family and became a dedicated homemaker. Theresa enjoyed reading, traveling, and cooking, and in her later years was a member of Red Hat Society of Raleigh and Lake Lynn Seniors. Mostly, she loved being with her family. She is predeceased by her devoted husbands, Gabriel Alfano in 1977, and Michael Caporale in 1995. She is survived by her daughter, Francine Alfano, of Raleigh, NC; her sons and daughters-in-law: Philip and Joan Alfano (Myrtle Beach, SC), James and Denise Alfano (Raleigh, NC), and Richard and Kathleen Alfano (Southlake, TX); her grandchildren: Matthew, Jessica, Christopher, and Elizabeth, and her sister, Marie Farina of Deltona, FL. A funeral mass will be held at St. Francis of Assisi in Raleigh, NC on Tuesday, July 24, 2012 at 11am. Memorial services will be held at Magnolia Glen in Raleigh on Sunday, July 22, 2012 at 1:30pm, and also at Long Island National Cemetery in Farmingdale, NY at 11am on Thursday, July 26, 2012.
