Mr. Terry Alan Lloyd of Raleigh, NC, suddenly passed away on 2/27/2024.
He was the son of William Troy Lloyd and Ray Stewart. Terry was born in High Point, NC on April 12, 1940, the 9th of 10 children. He grew up surrounded by older siblings. Terry attended public elementary schools and High Point High School, then enlisted in the US Air Force upon graduation. His first overseas assignment after basic training was to Taiwan. He was a communications specialist, and most of his time in service was spent overseas at communications sites, including Okinawa in 1965. In 1967 he returned to the states in San Francisco and met Marie Mew, whom he married on December 24, 1967, and he was stationed in Washington DC for a year. He went overseas again to Thailand during the Vietnam War. On return, he was assigned to two London area sites in England with his small family, followed by nearly 2 years in Phoenix, before a final overseas assignment of 3 years to Athens, Greece. MSgt Lloyd finished his last assignment as First Sergeant at Goldsboro AFB Hospital. He completed his Associates of Science degree and stayed in the Communications field as an electronic engineer, working as a project manager for Nortel Networks in Raleigh, NC, until his retirement.
Terry was first and foremost a family man. He was a devoted husband and father. He was quiet and reserved but had a witty and playful sense of humor. He loved to pick and tease with the people closest to him. He could build or fix most anything and taught his children to do the same. He led an honorable life and was respected by all who knew him.
Terry is survived by his wife Marie and 3 children: Christopher Alan (Cindy) Lloyd of Holly Springs, Jennifer Marie Lloyd (Bruce Blough) of Raleigh, and Timothy Brian (Lauren) Lloyd of Morrison, CO, and two grandchildren Samantha and Jacob Blough, a great grandchild Reagan, his brother-in-law Danton (Lily) Mew, and sister-in-law Dottie Lloyd, and a host of devoted nephews and nieces and friends from California to North Carolina.
