Obituary For Taylor Virginia Marie White

Taylor Virginia Marie White passed on to be with Jesus her savior this past Saturday, July 7, 2018. She was born in Greensboro, NC on December 23, 1990, and lived in Wake County from the age of two. Taylor was a native North Carolinian. She was a high honors graduate of Middle Creek High School. Taylor is an alumnus of William Peace University where she excelled as a student and educator. Taylor graduated from Peace as valedictorian and after graduation served as an adjunct instructor and with the Academic and Tutoring Center. She was near completion of her Master’s Degree in Education from NCSU. Taylor reveled in helping others achieve greater academic and life success. Her greatest professional achievement was being asked to teach Dr. Carol Hiscoe’s English 100 class when Dr. Hiscoe became too ill to continue teaching. She was honored to be called upon by a woman she so admired. One of Taylor’s greatest sources of pride was being a ten-year crew member at the Cary Trader Joe’s. Some of her greatest friendships and life lessons were gained there.

Taylor is preceded in death by her grandfathers, Lt. Col. Mack White of Asheville and Eddie Gene Hickey of Apex; her namesake and great aunt Taylor Pearce of Louisburg; grandmother Patty Taylor of Beaufort; cousin Melinda Hickey of Fort Campbell, Kentucky; and cousin James Hickey of Alexandria, Virginia.

Taylor is survived by her parents, Lee and Sherri, of Apex; her sister, Olivia, of Apex; and her grandmothers, Tina Hickey of Apex and Frances White of Asheville. She also leaves behind her uncle Rick Hickey of Summerfield, cousins Brandon, Seth, Joshua, Larry and Teresa from west of the Mississippi, uncle and aunt, Gary and Dunia Hickey, of Alexandria, Virginia, cousin Sara Hickey of Manassas, Virginia; her cousin Joseph Pearce of Louisburg; and her great uncle David Taylor of Beaufort, NC.

In addition to her family, Taylor leaves behind an army of friends, colleagues and classmates. We will all miss her greatly and are stronger happier people for having known her here in this part of life. Taylor, we look forward to seeing you again.

The family would like to extend a special thanks to all service providers at UNC Hospitals Gynecologic Oncology Clinics, especially the nursing and support staff on 6th Floor Women’s Hospital. The love and service they provided to Taylor and her family was amazing. The family also wishes to thank Transitions Life Care (founded as Hospice of Wake County) for the wonderful in-home care Taylor received.

A service celebrating the life of Taylor will be held in the Chapel at William Peace University on July 12, 2018 at 11:00 am with a visitation one hour prior. A green burial will immediately follow at Historic Oakwood Cemetery with the Rev. Dr. R. Lee Carter, Chaplain of William Peace University officiating. All are welcome.

In lieu of flowers, Taylor requested that a donation of blood or platelets be made in her honor to the UNC Blood Donation Center, UNC Rex Blood Connection, or any blood donation center. During the last year of her life, she and others were blessed by the benefit of blood donations from friends and strangers. Taylor wished that blessing of blood donation would be carried on for others.

To Taylor's family, I was shocked and sadden to hear the news about Taylor. She had a loving and positive spirit that touched and uplifted all who met her. She and my daughter, Laura were good friends at West Lake Elementary. Even as a child, Taylor was the sweetest sweetheart; she was always accepting of all her classmates and loved them for who they were. Lee, Sherri, Olivia and family, We will keep you in our thoughts and prayers. Most Sincerely, Julie Frederick

Lee, Sherri & Olivia, I was so sad to hear the news about Taylor. I had no idea that she was even sick. I cannot imagine the pain in your hearts. I can still see this little girl smiling and talking like an adult when she was just a toddler. She did so much in her short life and I know you will cherish the memories that you had with her until we all see her again. Love Janet & Bert Joines

Taylor and I were rainbow girls together. I remember the first time I saw her. She was standing on the grand floor in a stunning gold dress and she looked radiant. I always enjoyed seeing her at different functions. She was such a light and a joy. Until we meet again sweet sister. Rachel (Root) Hurst
