Obituary For Sheila Needham Armstrong

Sheila Needham Armstrong, 69, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, December 17, 2024, in Raleigh, North Carolina, following a brief illness.

Sheila was born on February 23, 1955, in Asheboro, NC, to the late Carl Cameron Needham and Helen Lee Needham. Her faith and relationship with God were the foundation of her life, and she guided her family by example, demonstrating unwavering love and devotion. Her boys and her grandchildren were her absolute life and greatest joy. Sheila spent three years volunteering as a Children’s Teacher in the Community Bible Study (CBS) in the Richmond, VA area and was an active participant in CBS for over ten years.

Sheila’s kind heart, positive outlook, and welcoming spirit were felt by everyone she encountered. She also had a deep love for the ocean, spending time at the North Carolina coast and the South Jersey shore. She never missed a beautiful sunset. The roles she took most pride in in life were those of Wife, Mom and Nana.

Sheila leaves behind her devoted husband, Bob Armstrong, and her three sons, Rob, Matt, and Dave, along with her daughters-in-heart, Emily, Mary Jo, and Mackenzie respectively. Sheila also deeply cherished her two grandchildren, Eli Alexander and Aspen Claire Armstrong, with whom she spent countless joyful moments.

A Funeral Service to celebrate Sheila will be held at the Renaissance Funeral Home on January 4, 2025, starting at 11:30AM. The Armstrongs will receive friends and family one hour prior to service start time. Location: 7615 Six Forks Road, Raleigh, North Carolina.

The family is grateful for the love and support extended during this difficult time. In lieu of flowers, they kindly request that any gifts be donated to Peter’s Heart Foundation in her memory. Click this link for more information on how to donate.

Bob and family, As you know Sheila and I were close friends since childhood like family. We always found a way to spend time together no matter where we lived. Grief is love with no where to go. May happy memories one day replace the sadness and may faith, family and friends bring you all peace.

It seems like yesterday that Sheila was a beautiful bride with my son Alec the ringbearer, and my late daughter, Natasha, the flower girl. May her loving spirit and kindness be remembered by all who knew her. Ilona Duncan
