Obituary For Saverio Edward Russo

Savy Russo went home to be with the Lord on January 15, 2021. He is survived by his loving wife, Rosalie Russo and his children, Tory Russo, Suellen Bailey, James Russo, Jeanmarie Warren, Elizabeth Easaw and Maryellen Schindler. He also had many grandchildren and a newly born great-grandson. He was predeceased by his daughter Brenda Protonentis and his six sisters and parents. He was dearly loved by all his family and friends. Savy was known for his kindness, generosity, humor and faith in Christ. Savy was born in Brooklyn, NY and was the youngest of seven of children. He had a servant’s heart, always thinking of others and supporting those in need, often serving quietly behind the scenes with humility. His love for Christ was expressed in his role as a wonderful husband and father. He was most proud of his family. Savy loved his wife Rosalie, providing a model of marriage for their children and grandchildren, having celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary last July. Even with seven children, he made sure each knew she or he was deeply loved. Savy had a successful international career in textiles in which he was an admired colleague who worked hard and built strong relationships, sharing his faith in action. A funeral mass will be offered at the Holy Name of Jesus Cathedral in Raleigh, NC on Friday, February 5 at 10:30am, with a committal service at Raleigh Memorial Park following the funeral mass.

I'd like to express my sincere sympathy to Suellen and her family on the loss of your father. Although I have not met Mr. Russo, I can see the same love for our Lord and friendly sparkle in the eyes in my friend, Suellen. Your legacy will live on through your family and I pray that this will bring you all comfort. God Bless.

How can one begin to express the joy of knowing and loving Savy? Savy was a special friend to our family for many years. In every action of Savy to Roaslie, his friends or any one in need Savy was always there with the image of Jesus Christ helping in any way of that person's needs. Savy, you will be missed and our lives have been so blessed knowing you. God bless you and the family. Love, Joyce Koch and son Jim
