Salvatore Barone Sr., 81, passed away at home peacefully at home with his wife by his side on December 12, 2011. He was born January 30, 1930, in Rochester, New York. Salvatore was a very successful businessman in Design Engineering in both Southern and Northern California. He was a Marine Corporal, and served in the Korean for over four years. Later in life, Salvatore and his wife owned and operated the Colonial Resort Motel and Apartments in Cape Coral, Florida before moving to North Carolina. He survived by his wife Betty Jane Barone, currently of Raleigh, North Carolina; his son Salvatore Barone Jr. of Utah, his daughters Sherri Barone of North Carolina and Carolyn Burnham of North Carolina; and proceeded in death by his son Anthony Barone late of Utah. He is also survived by his two sisters Irene Culbreth of North Carolina and Jeanne Tornabene of Florida. Also surviving are many grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces and nephews. A special thank you to his caregiver, Rachel Girma for her tenderloving care. A memorial service with military honors will be held on Monday at 4pm, December 19, 2011 at the Renaissance Funeral Home 7615 Six Forks Rd, Raleigh, NC 27615. Visitation will be Monday from 3pm until the time of service at 4pm.
