Obituary For Ruth Catherine Wynkoop

Ruth Williams Wynkoop 11/19/1922 – 4/23/2014

RUTH CATHERINE (WILLIAMS) WYNKOOP, a resident of Carillon Assisted Living in Raleigh, NC, passed away on April 23, 2014, at the age of 91. Born November 19, 1922, she lived in Massachusetts most of her life, graduating from Revere High School and Emerson College, and retiring on Cape Cod until moving to Raleigh five years ago. She performed professionally as a singer under the name Teddy Williams (a tip of the hat to the baseball player); but she was exceptionally proud of her service in the United States Marine Corp during World War II, where she was a Military Transport Driver and sang for the troops. Ruth later worked as an executive secretary for an engineering firm in Boston. In 1974 she married Dr. Raymond Wynkoop, who died suddenly 6-1/2 years later. While living on Cape Cod, Ruth was a Trustee of the Sturgis Library in Barnstable and a familiar face at The Beach Club in Centerville each summer.

Ruth is survived by a niece, Kathleen Brack, of Raleigh, NC; three nephews, Ronald Whitmore of Bedford, NH; Robert Whitmore of Duxbury, MA; and Ralph Williams, of Medford, OR; plus five grandnieces and grandnephews.

A memorial mass will be held for Ruth at St Francis Catholic Church Chapel on Tuesday April 29 at 11am. Burial will be at Puritan Lawn Memorial Park in Peabody, MA, in June. Memorial donations may be made to the church she loved on Cape Cod, Our Lady of Hope Chapel, c/o OLV Parish, 230 S Main St, Centerville, MA 02632.

Because the Lamb, who is in the midst of the throne, will shepherd them and will guide them to springs of waters of life. And God will wipe out every tear from their eyes. (Revelation 7:17, 21:3,4) I am very sorry for your loss. May God's Word seek to comfort you and your family. Sincerely, Gwen
