Obituary For Rose Grieco Amanna

Former longtime Orange County, NY resident, Rose G. Amanna, 87, died April 20, 2015, at her current home in Raleigh, NC. Rose was born October 29, 1927 in Newburgh, NY. She was married for 31 years to Philip Michael Amanna (predeceased). Rose was a working mother with a long career at West Point, Stewart Air Force Base and Veterans Hospital. She was active in the community and was a long time member of the Business and Professional Woman's Club and the Republican Women's club; as well as, a volunteer for Meals on Wheels, Literacy America and a program for reading to the blind.

The daughter of the late Peter and Antoinette Griesi Grieco.

Rose lived a long and fulfilling life. She was a loving wife, mother, sister, aunt, grandmother, and great grandmother; as well as a loyal friend and neighbor. Rose was most happy when surrounded by her family and friends. She loved to laugh and had a great sense of humor. Rose was active - she loved to travel, go to local fairs, parades, movies, and attend concerts and fireworks displays. She was deeply patriotic. She had a soft heart for animals, but an even softer one for her grandchildren, and most recently great grandchildren.

Mrs. Amanna is survived by her three children: Philip Michael Amanna Jr. and spouse, Julie; Diane Amanna Cosh, Lynette Amanna Kohn; seven grandchildren; Courtney Sheridan Amanna, Jaclyn Rose Amanna, Hayley Patrice Amanna, Lanson Arthur Cosh and spouse, Alicia, Savannah Lyn Cosh, Joshua Philip Kohn and Jacob Levi Kohn; three great grandchildren; Alina Rose Cosh, Tannon Kalo Cosh, Sheridan Rose Carpinello; and, niece Alexis and spouse Terry Morrison. In addition to her husband, Rose was predeceased by her sister, Philomena DeMeo and brother, Anthony Greico.

Visitation for family and friends will take place Friday, April 24th from 5 to 7 p.m. at White & Venuto Funeral Home, 188 North Plank Rd., Newburgh, NY. Funeral Mass will be offered 10 a.m. Saturday, April 25th at Sacred Heart Church, Robinson Ave., Newburgh. Burial to follow in Calvary Cemetery in New Windsor.

In lieu of flowers, the family has requested donations be made to the Meals on Wheels of Greater Newburgh, Inc. 35 Cerone Place, P.O. Box 2615, Newburgh, NY 12550.
