Rose Pfister, 96, passed from this earth on December 24 from complication of old age after a long illness.

Rose was born on October 12, 1928 in Brooklyn, New York to James and Sadie Cavallaro. She devoted her life to her beloved late husband of 57 years, Walter Henry Pfister and four children. She resided in Long Island for 40 years , creating a beautiful home for family and friends and raised her children there until retiring in Galax VA in 1987.

Rose was known for her sewing, baking, knitting and gardening skills. A devout Catholic, she volunteered for years at St. Rose of Lima in Massapequa, NY and St. Michael in Galax, VA and was a member of St. Francis Church in Raleigh.

She leaves behind her daughters Margaret (Robert) Knox of Pompano Beach, FL; Mary Ellen (Steve) Rogers of Raleigh, NC; , Jane Pfister of Raleigh, NC, and son James Pfister of Bland, VA and 11 grandchildren, and 8 great grandchildren. She loved being surrounded by family and leaves a legacy of warmth and devotion for others to follow.

The family wishes to thank the loving care given by Rex Rehab and Nursing Care of Raleigh, where she spent her last five years.

Funeral Mass will be at 1 p.m. at the chapel at St. Francis of Assisi parish Raleigh, Renaissance Funeral Home is handling arrangements. Interment will take place in Coal Creek Memorial Park in Galax, VA next to her loving husband. The family requests in lieu of flowers to donate to your favorite charity or make a donation to the NC Botanical Gardens, 4415 Beryl Road, Raleigh, NC 27606.
