Mr. Roger Walter Rebando, age 72 of Durham, passed away December 18, 2023.

Roger was born October 5, 1951 in Queens, NY to the late Peter and Margaret (nee Frenz) Rebando. He spent most of his life in New York, eventually becoming a supervisor for the New York City Department of Sanitation, a position he held for 30 years. He was also in charge of the Department’s Honor Guard for 15 years. He married Camille (nee Cuccaro) in September of 1975, and they were blessed with two children, Robert and Michele.

Roger was a family man with many interests, including gardening, golfing, and baseball (especially the Yankees). He frequently served as an umpire at baseball games. He made many fond memories with his family, including attending a New York Yankees game with them this past summer. Above all, Roger was a cherished husband, father, grandfather, uncle, and friend.

Roger is survived by his loving wife Camille Rebando of Durham; his children, Robert (Mary) Rebando of New Hill and Michele (Jose) Montoya; four grandchildren, Sophia Rebando, Robbie Rebando, Brandon Montoya and Gabriella Montoya; and his sister, Patricia Settlemyre of Greensboro.

In addition to his parents, Roger was preceded in death by his brother, Peter Rebando.

A viewing and visitation will be held at Renaissance Funeral Home on Friday, December 22, 2023 from 12:00-2:00pm, and again from 6:00-8:00pm. A funeral will be held at Renaissance Funeral Home on Saturday, December 23, 2023 at 10:00am, with burial at Historic Oakwood Cemetery to follow.
