Obituary For Rodney Clifford Hodges

Rodney C. Hodges passed away unexpectedly on Monday, April 8, 2019, at the age of 69. He leaves behind his wife, Rosalina, of 47 years; sons, Ronald (Sylvia) and Michael (Amber); grandchildren, Seth, Isaiah, Jasmine, Anabel, and Caleb; his mother, Polly; his sisters and their husbands, Faye (Jim), Beverly (Jerry), and Ann (Jeff); and several nieces and nephews and their children. He was preceded in death by his father, Alonza Ted Hodges.

Services will be held on Monday, April 15, 2019 at Renaissance Funeral Home, 7615 Six Forks Rd, Raleigh, North Carolina. A viewing will be held at 10:00 a.m. with the funeral service beginning at 11:00 a.m. The burial will take place at Historic Oakwood Cemetery, 701 Oakwood Avenue, Raleigh, North Carolina, immediately following the funeral service.

I worked for Rodney at his tow company a long time ago. I love Rodney and Rose and was sorry to hear about his loss. A year or so after it happened. I was towing a car for a friend of his from cp&l and asked about him and was told he passed. I found the obit online and didn't know how to contact his family. The phone numbers I had were no good. Rodney was pretty much a staple in my childhood. Most of my memories of him come from those long ago days. I would stay with the Hodges clan as often and as long as I possibly could. I adore my Aunt Polly and Faye, Rodney, Beverly and Ann were like a brother and sisters, rather than cousins. The young Rodney I remember was quiet, reserved and introspective, but he was a pony tail puller and a picker (he had 3 sisters after all). My favorite memory are all the times Rodney would give of his time and thrill us little girls by saddling Sugarfoot, the pony, and leading us around. The most profound memory though, is between he and I and God, but it taught me a life lesson. One that I use every day. Even as a young boy he was compassionate and understanding of my mistake. He never shamed me, he counseled me, and I will be forever grateful. From that kind, patient young boy, grew a wonderful humble family man. I ache for his loving family. I love you Rodney!
