Obituary For Robert â?? Pete â?? Remmert

Robert “Pete” Remmert, age 69, of San Antonio, Texas passed away on September 22, 2019 in Raleigh, North Carolina. The Rosary will be on October 7, 2019 at 9:30 AM followed by a Funeral Mass at 10:00 AM, both at Holy Spirit Catholic Church, 8134 Blanco Road, San Antonio, TX 78216. Afterwards, the family will have a private interment of his ashes at Our Lady of the Atonement Catholic Church. Pete was born in San Antonio to Erwin and Roberta Remmert on March 10, 1950. As a child of an Air Force family, he grew up in Texas, Libya, Japan, Washington DC, and Missouri. He graduated from MacArthur High School in San Antonio and had a career in television that took him to Colorado, Pennsylvania, Tennessee, and back to Texas. He was most happy when he could drink cappuccino on the rooftop balcony of the Casa di Santa Brigida in Rome, a city he loved and visited frequently. His interest in the traditions and doctrine of the Catholic Church inspired a particular passion for studying the Shroud of Turin and he gave many educational talks about its history and meaning. Additionally, Pete’s hobbies included aviation (he got his pilot’s license as a teenager), guitars, space, music and songwriting, and the lore of the Alamo. His enthusiasm inspired many people to pursue careers in these fields. His love of ice cream was legendary and he may have single-handedly kept Drumsticks in business. And you would not spend a minute with Pete without hearing a joke. Pete passed away peacefully from complications of Parkinson’s Disease, and surrounded by family. He is preceded in death by his parents and by his brother, Travy. He is survived by Christine, who was married to him for forty-four years, his children and their spouses – Camille (Rob) Di Maio, Paul (Sarah) Remmert, and Catherine (Brian) Vermeulen. And by his grandchildren, Claire, Gina, Teresa, Ashley, Vincent, and Corey. Along with his siblings; Melissa (Bob) Wittman, and Fred (Tracy) Remmert; sister-in-law, Cheryl Remmert, and beloved nieces and nephews. He also leaves behind his beloved dog, Pearl. In lieu of flowers, please send donations to Allied Women’s Center, 102 Marshall Street, San Antonio, TX 78212.

My condolences to the Remmert family. My husband Gilbert and I had the pleasure of working with Pete during his brief time at Catholic Television of San Antonio. He made it a joy to come to work each day. He conveyed to all of us on staff his great love of the Church and respect for her doctrines. Pete was kind and patient, and funny. I cried a little when he left CTSA. The world has lost a good man and heaven has gained a guitar playing angel. Rest in peace, Pete. Ronnie & Gilbert Perez

Dear Remmert Family, I was so saddened to hear about Pete's death. Pete hired me to be his replacement, and in our 3 years together at KOAA-TV, we shared many stories & laughs. We joked about wearing the NBC lapel pin on our pajamas and we both loved Mexican food. He loved his family most of all. And I thought of him when we finally got to visit Rome. May all of your memories comfort you in this sad time. Eileen Weinert

We first met Pete and Chris Remmert through the usher at Holy Ghost Catholic Church and his name was "Riley." Pete and Chris were so kind to our family of 8. They made sure we got tickets to expensive events like the Ice Capades and concerts. I think his Channel 7 connections and job helped him to do this. We were kind of poor but their love of our family made us feel rich .From the words of consolation of St. Thomas More he said, "Earth has no sorrow that Heaven cannot heal." And we also have a 12 year old golden retriever and her name is "Riley." Blessings and all our love to the Remmert family. We love you very much! The entire Thielen family and Riley

Dearest Remmert family, you have my heartfelt sympathies in the loss of Pete. I rejoice that he is no longer hurting, but mourn the loss of Missy's big brother. As Missy's adopted sister/friend, Pete welcomed me into the Remmert clan and also made me feel welcomed and loved as part of the family. He was a wonderful big brother and will be missed dearly. Love, Kathy Nelson
