Obituary For Robert James Witman
Robert James Witman, born in 1941 in Harrisburg, PA, passed away Friday, July 3, 2020 surrounded by his loving family.
Robert retired from IBM as a Programming Service Manager and also retired from the US Post Office as a Service Technician. Prior to his career, he served in the Navy as an FT2, 2nd Class Petty Officer.
Robert will be most remembered for being a health enthusiast, avid gardener, playing pranks on his children, being a 'jokester', loving the beach, fishing for Sun fish at Falls Lake, his love for being outdoors, believing you should have at least 15 minutes in the sun every day, his interest in meeting new people and one of his favorite poems which he recited to his children 'IF' by Rudyard Kipling.
Robert is survived by his partner, Judy Witman; children, Denise Witman (Peyman), Clayton Witman (Priscilla), Lisa Meerdink (Cori); grandchildren, Jordan Maloney, Juliet Maloney, Melanie Witman and Lilly Witman; and sister, Dorothy Ann Givler. He was preceded in death by his parents, James Fredrick and Marie Catherine Witman.
The Burial will take place in the Green Burial section of Pine Forest Memorial Gardens, Wake Forest, NC. A memorial service will be held at a later date.
Robert's family wishes to thank the Duke Hospice team for all the professional and supportive care they provided at all hours.
