Robert Faris Wheeler died on January 16, 2012 surrounded by his family. He is survived by his beloved wife, Peggy Oââ?¬â?¢Neill-Wheeler, son, Robert Wheeler, daughter in law Robin Wheeler, daughter Colleen and son in law John Sullivan and three grandchildren, Tim, Rob and Bridget Sullivan. Bob was the owner and operator of Connecticut Avenue Towing in Kensington, Maryland for 31 years. He was the recipient of the Hiram Musgrove Award thru the Bethesda-Chevy Chase Rescue Squad, their highest award for dedicated community service. He helped Co-Found the Independent Towing Association which later merged into the Towing and Recovery Professionals of Maryland. In 1994, Bob retired his business and followed his wife to Raleigh, NC. He then embarked on his second career in the Wake County Public School Transportation Department, where he helped establish a specialized bus repair process. He again was honored to be able to design the best trucks for repair service and then their tow trucks, which he loved. There will be a reception at the Renaissance Funeral Home, 7615 Six Forks Rd. Raleigh, NC on Thursday, January 19, 2012 from 7-9pm. Funeral will be held on January 20, 2012 at St. Raphaelââ?¬â?¢s Catholic Church at 11:00. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Bethesda Chevy-Chase Rescue Squad, www.BCCRS.org. Bob was loved for his wisdom which blessed everyone he met. His last blessing to us was ââ?¬Å?Life should be a concert and not a competition.ââ?¬Â?

There are many of our classmates from Bethesda-Chevy Chase High School who remember Bob (or as we think of him, "Bobby") as one of the best friends we had in school. Everyone was a friend with him because of his great personality even after his accident. One of our classmates, Tony Wolfe was waiting for Bob -- and they are real blessings for each other. "We'll stand together . . ." always!

To Peggy and the family:
I just heard today of Bob's passing. My heartfelt sorrow go with you for your loss. I last saw Bob with his activities with the rescue squad but knew him for many years before that. I met him when I moved to his neighborhood in 1949. Although he was a bit older than me he befiended me immediately and we became friends from that time on. I very much valued his friendship, wisdom and easy manner and will forever miss him gereatly.
Sincerely,
David S. Dwyer

To the Wheeler family,
I have so many fond memories of Bobby from when I was just a little boy!
Riding in tow trucks learning from the best
Having dinners
Washing his hand
And his teaching my sisters and me how to tie our shoes with one hand
But the best was his bright smile when he was doing the things he enjoyed (Riding his Norton Motor cycle with one hand Helping everyone and towing cars

Dear Peggy & Family,
There are no words to express my deep sorrow that my dear "adopted Brother Bob" is no longer here to give me those pep talks that I so often need, nor will I receive another "Brother Bob letter". I'm sure there is a roundtable up there in Heaven and he will continue to discuss his Book of Proverbs with his family & friends that have been waiting for him.
Peggy, Bob loved you dearly and was so proud of his children and grandchildren.
I'm so sorry that I can't be there with you and the family during this sad time. My Thoughts & Prayers are with all of you.
My Love to All of You,
Betty
