Obituary For Robert E. Burton

Robert Edmund Burton, age 95, of Raleigh, NC died on November 10, 2017.

Robert was born in Seattle, Washington to the late Norman and Ruth Burton.

Robert was a proud American and served his country bravely in WWII. He continued his dedication to country by working for the Department of the Navy. And he attended Lehigh until he enlisted in the Army.

He was a quiet, humble and intelligent man. He enjoyed working with his hands, and loved building cabinets. He had many hobbies that included playing horseshoe’s, sailing, playing bridge and listening to his books on tape. Robert loved to write poetry for a lot of family occasions, for friends, and when requested for special events. He was also an avid Washington football fan. GO REDSKINS!

Robert will be remembered for his unfaltering strength, his kindness, and mostly for his role as a loving husband and father. He was married to the love of his life, Joan for 67 years.

Robert is preceded in death by his brother George Burton.

He is survived by and will be dearly missed by his loving wife, Joan Evans Burton; sister, Margaret Fowler; children, Charles E. Burton (Lisa), Suzanne E. Miles (Thomas) and Lynn B. Helder (Edward); grandchildren, T.J. Miles. Christopher Miles, Matthew Miles, David Burton, Amy Burton, Brittany Burton, John Helder and Kelly Dennis; great-grandchildren, Tommy Miles, Bridget Miles, Levi Miles, Quentin Miles, Gabriel Miles, Jaimy Kinlaw, Jocelynn Kinlaw, Elias Kinlaw, Amelia Helder, Emmett Helder and Wade Dennis.
