Obituary For Robert "Bob" Devitt Long
Robert "Bob" Devitt Long, 54, passed away on November 30, 2023, in Wilmington, North Carolina. Born on October 3, 1969, in Chicago, Illinois, Bob was a beloved son of Sheila Long and the late John Long.
Bob was a thoughtful and kind-hearted individual who had a quick wit and a great sense of humor. He was known for his one-liners, which he would often repeat and repeat, bringing smiles and laughter to those around him. Bob was a wonderful storyteller who loved nothing more than laughing with friends. He had a passion for golf and one of his favorite memories was getting a hole-in-one. He cherished time with his family and considered his friends to be part of his family as well.
Bob loved going on beach vacations to Seabrook, Emerald Isle and Kiawah. He also enjoyed spending time with his eight nieces and nephews for birthday celebrations and holidays, especially Christmas, as he was deemed: “Best Gift-Giver Ever!” for his unbelievable thoughtfulness and generosity. His heart belonged to all who knew him and especially to his loyal dogs, Butkus and Lambert, too.
Bob graduated from East Carolina University and went on to have a successful career as a Furniture Sales Representative for Lifestyle Furniture. He was highly regarded in his field and made a lasting impact on his colleagues and clients.
Bob is survived by his five siblings: Patrick Long and his wife Mildred, Megan Chambers, Mike Long, Kate Mishler and her husband John, and Amy Rokita and her husband Sean. He is also survived by eight nieces and nephews: Emma, Lily, Max, Molly, Ethan, Julia, John, and Hattie.
Bob will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him. The memories of his kind-hearted nature, humor, and love of family and friends will live on and on in all of our hearts.
The funeral arrangements are being handled by Renaissance, located in Raleigh, North Carolina.
