Obituary For Richard DuPont

I want to first extend my gratitude to all of the relatives and friends who have come to honor Richard Dupont today and for those who have sent their condolences. You all have been supportive and comforting during this difficult time.

Rick leaves behind many loved ones: His beloved wife, Carol, his daughter, Heather, his stepdaughters, grandchildren, friends and extended family.

There are many good memories that we all have of Rick. He loved spending time with his wife, Carol, and talking about blueprints and fixing up houses. He was often seen with a hammer in one hand and the other in a toolbox. Rick and Carol enjoyed the adventure of moving around together. He loved Bob Evans and spent many hours there enjoying breakfast and reading the newspaper. He also enjoyed going to Renaissance Fairs, dinner theaters and eating at Italian restaurants. Later, when it got harder for Rick to move around easily, he enjoyed watching the history channel and playing card games with friends and family.

He also loved spending time with his daughter, Heather. He would light up and get so excited when she would come to visit him. Even though he didn’t always express it, he enjoyed visits with his grandchildren and being around family. I’d like to leave you with this poem to meditate on as we remember Rick together. Afterglow I’d like the memory of me to be a happy one. I’d like to leave an afterglow of smiles when life is done. I’d like to leave an echo whispering softly down the ways, Of happy times and laughing times and bright and sunny days. I’d like the tears of those who grieve, to dry before the sun; Of happy memories that I leave when life is done. Author Unknown

Rest in peace my friend! Can't remember how long we've know each other, 1955 I think. We had many great times at Lake Barcroft! Remember your folks and how nice they were. We drifted apart but met again in our later years and you were a true friend. Condolences to Carol and the entire family.

I met Heather years ago while she was attending Chiropractic college and we became great friends. I didn't get a chance to know Heather's father, but I know how much he meant to her. She talked of him often. I extend condolences, not only to my best friend Heather and her immediate family, but to his wife and family as well. RIL Mr. DuPont.

I remember his thoughtfulness when he bought me an audio book he knew I wanted. I also remember him staying up till the wee hours of the morning to see my family off when we went to the airport. My husband really enjoyed eating breakfast with him at Dennys. Heidi
