Obituary For Richard A. Wriggelsworth

Richard A. Wriggelsworth Jr., 67, of Raleigh, NC passed away December 5, 2016 while surrounded by his loving family. He is survived by his wife of 45 years, Kay, and their three daughters Kelly Graham, Laura Stone, and Kathryn Wriggelsworth, and their families. His greatest joy was raising his daughters and being a part of their lives. Rick was born February 17, 1949 in Detroit, Michigan and raised in Farmington, MI. He attended Michigan State University and the University of Nice. He served in the Army Reserves from 1970 to 1975. Rick always had a passion for business and finance. He served as a mortgage banker in several companies. He was president of Mercantile Mortgage in Baltimore MD, and he was President of Equity Bank Mortgage Company in Delray Beach, FL. Rick had envisioned himself as a restaurant owner, and in 1990 he and his wife Kay became Arby’s franchisees. They moved to Raleigh, NC and over the course of 11 years built 10 restaurants. His entrepreneurial spirit was an inspiration to many. Rick’s passions were his family, fishing and golfing. Rick’s engaging personality and generous spirit made him a wonderful friend to so many. In 2001 Rick was diagnosed with esophageal cancer. He endured many health problems following this cancer, and proved himself to be a warrior and survivor. He will be greatly missed. A memorial service will take place on Sunday, December 11th, 1 pm at Renaissance Funeral Home (7615 Six Forks Rd, Raleigh, NC 27615). A Celebration of Life Open House will take place at North Ridge Country Club (6612 Falls of Neuse Rd, Raleigh, NC 27615), following the service, from 2-4 pm. Rick was a true "gentleman" and an example for all of us. Even as he faced challenge after challenge he never saw me without asking about my son who is also a warrior fighting his own battle-Thank you Rick for being you, David Fajgenbaum.

Such an amazing man and family - I'll never forget the Christmas dinner he held for us in college where he dressed in a full tux and acted as our waiter, and made one of the best steaks I'd ever eaten!

Dear Kay and family, Rick was not only a partner he was a friend and it is that friendship and the friendship and love of your wonderful family that I remember the most. I remember the girls who adored their Dad, as much as he adored them. And of course Kay who was always there for Rick and the family. I know that in your hours of grief from your great loss your family will be your greatest source of support. Just know that Rick was loved by many people and i am grateful to be one of those who was privileged to receive love from Rick. Ginia shares in that love. Don

I remember how happy he was at Laura and Matt's wedding party. He was having such a good time that it was catching. We will make a contribution to the golden retriever rescue team in Rick's name.

My first of two encounters with Rick I was struck by his kindness and generosity to me. In the midst of great suffering Rick never lost a warm and welcoming demeanor. Kindness was his great gift to me for it gives me an example to live by. I am grateful to GOD for bringing Rick into my life. May his soul and the souls of all the faithful departed rest in peace. Christ is Risen! Truly he is Risen! Robin Biggie
