Peter Shafer, 78, of Raleigh, NC passed away peacefully, surrounded by his loving family, on October 10, 2024.

Born on October 8, 1946 to Paul and Doris Shafer in Niagara Falls, NY.

Peter is survived by his wife of 55 years, Barbara (nee Tooker); his first son Jeff Shafer and his wife Nicole and his grandchildren Lea and Evan Shafer. Peter was preceded in death by his brother John Shafer and his second son, Kurt Shafer. Surviving Peter is Nadia Shafer, the daughter of Kurt, and her mother Sarah. Also surviving is his sister Betsy, and his loving nieces Sarah, Tess, and Dawn.

Peter graduated from LaSalle Senior High School in 1964 and went on to study Electrical Engineering at Clarkson University in Potsdam NY. He completed his Bachelors Degree in 1968 and completed his Masters Degree in 1969. Peter majored in the new field of Semiconductors.

Peter and Barbara married in June of 1969 when Barbara graduated from State University of New York at Potsdam.

Peter’s career in the field of Electrical Engineering began with General Electric and then Harris Semiconductor and eventually Intersil.

Peter, an Eagle Scout, loved fishing and hunting. He taught his sons how to fix most automobile and household problems. His beloved tools have moved on to the Shafer farm with Jeff.

In memory of Peter he would like you to take a walk in the woods and enjoy it as much as he did. A creation made for all of us.
