Obituary For Patrick Michael McHugh

Patrick M. McHugh, of Raleigh, passed away on April 12, 2021 at the age of 90.

Pat was the cherished husband of Mary Ida Godwin McHugh for almost 59 years. He was a beloved husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather and friend. Born in Brooklyn, New York to John and Agnes McHugh, immigrants from Ireland, Pat was raised in Brooklyn and at St. Dominic’s Home, an orphanage in Rockland County, New York. A graduate of Tappan Zee High School, Pat served honorably in the United States Air Force and was a graduate of Belmont Abbey College (where he played basketball) and Emory University Law School. He worked for over 40 years with the Allstate Insurance Company in Fayetteville and Raleigh. He was a long-time and devoted parishioner at St. Raphael the Archangel and Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic churches. He was a gifted athlete, a devoted husband, father and grandfather, and a person of great faith.

He is survived by his children, Alan McHugh (and his wife, Rhonda), Patricia McHugh Lambert (and her husband, Christopher, and their children, John Patrick, and Michele, and John Patrick’s children, Anabelle and Daniel), Michael McHugh (and his wife, Kamala Rodriguez McHugh and his children, Morgan Powers, Mary Madison, and Jake, and Morgan’s daughter Rylee Powers, and Michael’s stepchildren, Jacob Roth and Toria Roth), John (and his wife, Molly, and his children, Mitchell, Katie, Ryan, and Mac) and Mary McHugh Webb (and her husband, Andy, and her children, Nicole and Davis).

He was predeceased by his son, Kenneth V. McHugh.

A rite of committal will take place at Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church Columbarium, 2718 Overbrook Drive, Raleigh, on Friday, April 16, 2021 at 2:00 pm.

Donations may be made in Pat's honor to Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church.
