Obituary For Patricia Jane Henderson Honeycutt

Patricia Jane Henderson Honeycutt went home to be with Jesus on February 9, 2022, at age 79.

Pat loved the Lord and the Church, her entire family, her two daughters, and her many friends and neighbors, with her whole heart. She was a good listener who genuinely cared for those around her—she never met a stranger. Pat was born on February 13, 1942, in Spartanburg, SC. With determination and strength, she worked hard to earn her RN from the University of South Carolina as a first-generation college student, and enjoyed a long and diverse nursing career that enabled her to help and serve so many, from children with disabilities to elderly veterans. In her retirement, she enjoyed her grandchildren, group bible studies, and being part of the Red Hat Society.

Pat fought a hard and beautiful fight with dementia, and lived the last of her years with an amazing, caring, loving group of warriors at Spring Arbor Assisted Living & Memory Care in Apex, NC. True to her nature, she never stopped caring for those around her and offering to help others when she saw a need.

Pat joins her parents, Horace Hulon and Mattie Lee Francis Henderson, as well as her sister, Sheila Swanger, in heaven. She is survived by daughter, Marlo Baker (Scott) and grandson, Nathan; daughter, Ashley Moore (Joe) and grandchildren, Kyle and Paige; sister, Elizabeth Stringer (Bob); brother, Hugh Henderson (Robbie); as well as many other “sisters”, beloved cousins, nieces and nephews, and her long-time boyfriend, Homer Stackleather.

There will be a small service for family members. Pat’s family would be honored if you wish to make donations in her memory to: the Alzheimer’s Association (or any research related to dementia or brain health), or Transitions LifeCare of Wake County Hospice.

Pat was such a sweet, kind lady. The world will be sadder without her sharing her joy with a kind smile and word. Praying the family will find comfort and celebrate the life she lived to the fullest. Hugs to her family and friends.

Pat became my sister when I was just a teen! We always were close and also shared a love for healthcare and our patients. She was so visibly sympathetic to any problem you discussed with her, that you were drawn to her. Not everyone is a good listener. Pat was a great listener! I will miss my sister and always will treasure the cozy memory of her putting on coffee for us in her kitchen.Pat also loved my Mother Sarah very much and it was reciprocated. I like to think they are in Heaven together now. Maybe drinking coffee!

I met Pat when her daughter Ashley married my son Joe. She welcomed me into her family. She fiercely loved her girls Ashley and Marlo and later our two grandchildren together Kyle and Paige. Most of all she loved my son Joe. Rest in Peace sweet spirit.
