Obituary For Parul Kartik Patel

It is with great sadness that the family of Parul Patel announces her passing after a nine-month battle with cancer, on Monday, December 16, 2019. She was 51 years old, the youngest of five children of the late Mr. Ishwarbhai Patel and Mrs. Madhukanta Patel of Nar/Ujjain in India.

Parul will be forever remembered by her husband of 30 years Kartik; her mother, Madhukanta; her siblings, Urvashi, Hema, Rajesh, and Amita and their families; as well as, her many in-laws, cousins, nieces, nephews, and friends. She was loved dearly and will be missed by her family and friends.

When Parul was diagnosed with a rare form of cancer, she decided to be joyful about having had a full life and fight the disease courageously rather than be sad about the grave prognosis.

Parul worked at Duke Health System for 25 years and loved her job. She was a free spirit who loved traveling, cooking, nature, and animals. She was always upbeat and showed kindness to all.

A Funeral Service and reception will be held on Friday, December 20, 2019 at eleven o'clock in the morning at Renaissance Funeral Home, 7615 Six Forks Road, Raleigh, NC 27615.

Parul was such a delight to know and work with. She always had a positive or encouraging word to share. My thoughts and prayers are with her family and friends.

She was a beacon of light and an example of light-hearted ness. Her infectious laughter will remain on our home videos as an example of how to laugh from the heart. She used to call me to have dinner when she made my favorite eggplant lasagna. I told her not to give me the receipe because I only wanted her to make it and I would only eat it at her home - because it was Special to me that way...and she was a fantastic cook as she was a fantastic human. Alas...Gone from sight & sound but she will always remain in my heart as someone I loved very much (along with my love for Kartik.) I was fortunate to have had a one-on-one with her about body, mind, soul & spirit before this day came. Rest In Peace Bhabhi. Hugs always...Kenz

Deeply affected to hear this news. Parul was an inspiration to all of us at MD Anderson: always radiant with joy from the moment she first came to see us with a very advanced cancer, to the day after major surgery, to the months beyond receiving radiation and targeted drug therapies; always a beacon of light, with her face radiating compassion and warmth to all those she encountered. We have been forever inspired by her courageous fight and by her glowing spirit. Peace, blessings, and prayers with you and your family. With love and condolences, mark zafereo, on behalf of the MD Anderson Anaplastic Thyroid Cancer team.

The God has a need for one more humble and genuine person. So he calls upon Parul. It was indeed an honor to know her when she worked at Duke Hospital helping many who needed help. She will be remembered for her selfless and genuine services. May her soul attains Moksha!

Parul you will be missed. I enjoyed working with you when I rotated through the OR pharmacy. When you moved to IT you were so helpful with all the transitions the department had to make. When you called me to help with referrals: I was so happy. Your work ethic was excellent and I knew I could count on your help. Be blessed sweet Parul.
