Owen Bwale Kapanga, 50, passed away unexpectedly on Sunday, May 10, 2020. He was born on August 14, 1969 in Zambia to Joses Kapanga and Ester Chibuye Kapanga.

Owen was an amazing father, husband, brother, friend, and family member. He filled the room with joy from his smile and laughter and could talk to anyone near him and keep them entertained for hours. Out of the kindness of his heart he helped others when needed. He was a terrific cook. Owen exemplified all the best traits a good father should have. As we mourn the death of our dear partner, father, brother, and friend, let us remember all the wonderful times we spent with Owen. And as we walk through our days we carry on his loving spirit and legacy.

Owen was preceded in death by his parents. He is survived by his long-time partner Charity Miyato; his children, Tamah, Owen Jr., and Joseph; his siblings, Whitman, Nebart, Getrude, Janet, Joe, and Rodney; his nieces and newphews; and friends.

A private Memorial Service will be held at Renaissance Funeral Home, 7615 Six Forks Rd, Raleigh, North Carolina. The burial will take place at Historic Oakwood Cemetery, 701 Oakwood Avenue, Raleigh, North Carolina, following the funeral service.
