Neva Jean Fries of Raleigh, NC passed away on August 15, 2018 at the age of 81.

Neva was born October 24, 1936 in a small town, Hinton, Iowa to Harold and Louise Lang. She grew up on the family farm in LeMars, Iowa with 3 younger brothers. After high school, Neva moved to the big city Sioux City where she graduated from Methodist College with a degree in nursing. Neva started her career in Iowa City working in all areas of the hospital from emergency to surgery to floor nurse. She loved what she did and was loved by her patients. Having met Neva in Sioux City, Noel Fries pursued her until she agreed to marry him in 1960. And they were married for 49 years!

Noel got a job with IBM in Omaha, Nebraska and Neva continued her calling as a nurse at Clarkson Hospital. Over the next 8 years, Noel and Neva welcomed 4 tow-headed daughters (Nancy, Nicki, Natalie, and Noelle). In 1981, the Fries family moved to Raleigh, NC. No matter where Neva landed, she started up a church library in each new church they joined. She spent 20 years building up a library at Crossroads Fellowship in Raleigh, NC.

In her spare time, she enjoyed sewing, reading, and spending time with her grandchildren.

She is survived by her brothers, Kendall, Dave, and Dan Lang who are still in Iowa; her daughters Nancy Martis of Louisville KY, Nicki Cannon of Carbondale, CO, Natalie Archambault of Raleigh, NC, and Noelle Fries of Boston, MA; her grandchildren, Davin and Cheyenne Martis, Olivia and Calvin Cannon, Chris and Heather Archambault, and Beckett and Louisa Walsh; as well as her great granddaughter, Lakin Martis.

She is predeceased by her husband of 49 years, Noel Fries.
