Obituary For Nancy Long
In Loving Memory of Nancy Long
December 18, 1960 – April 1, 2025
Nancy Long, a loving mother, daughter, sister, and friend, passed away peacefully on April 1, 2025, at the age of 64. Her warmth, strength, and gentle spirit will be deeply missed by all who knew her.
Born on December 18, 1960, in Roanoke, Virginia, Nancy graduated from North Side High School in 1979. She built a life rooted in love, laughter, and care, never far from a good book, a garden in bloom, or the soothing sound of waves at the beach. A true Southern soul, Nancy had a deep fondness for sunshine, blossoms, and a cold Diet Dr Pepper in hand.
She was the proud and devoted mother of Zack Long, who was the light of her life and her greatest joy. Nancy also shared a lasting connection with her ex-husband, John Long, Zack’s father, and together they created a foundation of love and support for their son.
Nancy is survived by her beloved mother, Bonnie Cadd, her father Henry G. Glass, and her cherished stepfather, Hollie C. Delaney. She was a treasured sister to Connie Mowbray, Paula Setchel, Ashley Glass, and Geoff Glass, all of whom remember her wit, kindness, and the special way she brought people together.
Whether she was tending to her flowers, reading a novel, or basking in the serenity of the shore, Nancy found joy in life’s simple pleasures and shared that joy with those around her. Her generous heart, listening ear, and radiant smile made a difference in the lives of so many.
Nancy’s memory will live on in the hearts of her family, her friends, and all who were lucky enough to be loved by her. Her legacy is one of compassion, quiet strength, and the beauty of a life well lived.
A private celebration of her life will be held by her family. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that you honor Nancy’s memory by planting something beautiful, enjoying a good book, or simply taking a moment to savor the view at the beach—just as she would have.
