Obituary For Nancy Ella Cloutier

Nancy Ella Cloutier, 73, of Raleigh, North Carolina passed away on February18, 2025.

She was the daughter of Harry Lewis Bunch and Marian Pullen Bunch. She was born
on August 24,1951 in Louisville, Kentucky.
She was a graduate of Columbus Indiana High School and earned an Associate Degree
in Interior Design from Randolph Community College at age 40.

On May 5,1973 she wed Michael G. Cloutier, M.D. who survives of the home. She is
survived by her sons Matthew (Heather) and Travis (Amy), brother Barry Bunch
(Sharon), former daughter in law Tammy, six grandchildren and 1 great grandchild.

Nancy worked from age 16 until 26 as an executive secretary for a national insurance
company before devoting her life to her home and family. After obtaining her degree in
Interior Design, she ran a small design studio in High Point, North Carolina for many
years.

Nancy was first and always a loving wife, mother and homemaker. She was unapologetic about her vocation considering it life’s highest calling. She was overjoyed
to become a “Mamaw”, a title she believed to be the highest honor for any woman.

Nancy’s loving character was exemplified by her care for her mother following a disabling stroke in 1998. Nancy was tireless in her devotion and attention to her mom over the next 13 years. She never complained about these difficult times and never
showed anything other than love, humor and patience.
She was humble and quietly religious. She grew in faith during her final illness. She was always creative, working on design details for updating her grandchildrens’ home until a few days before her passing.

Nancy was adventurous and generous and fun. She treated everyone the same with kindness and sympathy. She was funny and curious and she made the most of every day of her life. She was a wonder.

A Celebration of Life will be announced for the spring according to her wishes.

If you should so choose, donations may be made to St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital in her memory.

She WAS a wonder. Nancy was one of the rare people that come along in your life who you immediately recognize as being exceptionally special. I will always remember her easygoing grace, her optimism, her welcoming and engaging spirit, and her beautiful smile. She & Mike had such an easygoing, selfless, and loving connection and she was so proud of her sons and family. Her example of living is certainly one to be admired & emulated. The world is less without her. Tom N.

Nancy was the kindest, nicest person I've had the pleasure of knowing over many (>40 years). She loved life, and she especially loved her family. She and Mike were made for each other, and they truly enjoyed each other's company. She was always smiling, even during her treatment for her cancer. She made those around her smile. She had wonderful taste. She decorated 2 homes for us, and she told my husband, Carl, "Everything must go", so that he could prepare for what she would propose we change. I loved her taste - and he did, too. I have wonderful memories of taking walks, exercising, going to dinner, etc. During this last year and a half, she shared her love for The Chosen, which I really love, too. We were at the Come & See Summit in Nov., and Dallas Jenkins sent her a video from my phone, and she said it made her day. I'll think of her whenever I watch an episode, and I know she hated that she would miss the last 3 seasons. Nancy, I think of you every day. You're an angel. Ann

Dear Mike and family, As I read the beautiful words about Nancy, I am drawn back to our times together in Louisville and our Hillview family!! Nancy was solid and one to be admired by her peers! She welcomed everyone (younger and older) into her circle of friends! To an awkward kid who always felt unworthy of belonging, this was a builder of confidence!! As the years have passed, I am thankful for the technology that allowed communication to still be present from time to time. Please know that you are in my prayers and will always be thought of fondly when I remember our Hillview family.
