Obituary For Mumtaz John
Mumtaz John, 78, of Raleigh, North Carolina passed away peacefully on Tuesday, May 21, 2019 at Transitions LifeCare in Raleigh. She was born September 7, 1940 in Lahore, Pakistan, to the late Bahana and Sudha Najam.
She married Francis Louis John on September 12, 1956 in Lahore, Pakistan. They celebrated their 62nd wedding anniversary this year. Mumtaz and Francis had a very loving and devoted marriage.
Mumtaz, the matriarch of the John family, moved to the United States in 1980. She was lovingly called a Domestic Engineer (housewife) by her husband, Francis. She was known to have a very loving and giving heart, and cared for many children and family members throughout her life. Mumtaz had a zest for and loved life. She enjoyed traveling, taking pictures, and cooking in her kitchen. Her love for shopping at QVC is very well known, and she often bought many gifts for her loved ones and friends.
Mumtaz was proceeded in death by her parents and sisters.
She is survived by her husband, Francis and their three sons; Joseph (Carla) John of Raleigh, NC, Lazarus John of Raleigh, NC, and David John of Clayton, NC; grandchildren, Christopher (Heather) John of Raleigh, NC, Jason John of Raleigh, NC, Joshua John of Katy, TX, and Arianna John of Katy, TX; and 2 great-granddaughters, Jaely John of Oro Valley, AZ, and Avery John of Raleigh, NC. She is also survived by her three brothers, Sohan (Mariam) Najam, Shamus (Jamila) Najam, and Younas (Maria) Najam, nieces and nephews, cousins, and her large, extended family in Pakistan.
A memorial service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, May 24, 2019 at Renaissance Funeral Home, 7615 Six Forks Road, Raleigh, NC 27615. Family and friends are welcome to attend.
The family requests donations to be made, in memory of Mumtaz, to Diabetes Research Institute Foundation, www.diabetesresearch.org or the Alzheimer’s Association, www.alz.org.
The family is especially grateful to the staff of the WakeMed Neuro ICU and Neuro 5B and the staff at Transitions LifeCare, who gave Mumtaz exceptional care.
